Das & Co Store
DOKAN 294-12J // CONSOLE //
Das & Co Store, a click cafe*, based in Chittagong(Bangladesh) serves as one of the digital colonies of United States. In this speculative narrative, I’m working on the growth of autonomous click farms into connected units around the world that illustrate digital labour and colonisation of the digital era. The rugged and tightly fit nature of the click café emphasise the coercion and technological domination we’re leading towards. The console in these units, though localised, are the core tool of click farmers, who are paid menial wages to produce fake online entities, which are then sold in the developed parts of the world.
This dystopic narrative, with its key moments, interpret the hidden digital economies that we are a part of. In recent years, only 60% of the internet traffic was human and the rest of the internet has been an amalgamation of fake profiles and chatbots; and this project is a medium to physicalise and deconstruct the face of cyberspace we don’t talk about, enough.
Following are the few screens that I made as a part of the console’s interface, that will be used as a streamlined software for high productivity and agile creation of fake online entities.
*Click cafe is a speculative concept where click farms exist as cyber cafes around the world, where individuals can walk in and earn compensation for fake profile creation.
