ROLE
DESIGNER & CO-FACILITATOR
Exploring the utilitarian belief that social technologies are capable of serving people, their goals, and provide agency — help them accomplish everyday tasks — the intervention of this research will focus on how social technologies are positioned, and what their roles in wellbeing, policy, and education are. James Bridle wrote, our technologies are complicit in the greatest challenges we face today, and while there are many focusing on fake news and lack of trust in online systems; this project is aimed to be centered around informing the debate on social technologies and their impact on public discourse.
For this workshop we were interested in how people are perceiving the harms and benefits of using social technologies, and which of these are likely to be enduring and which are topical or potentially fleeting. With a focus on kids and adolescents, we want to hear about your observations and data both in the long-term prior to social isolation as well as most recently.
